Suspected drunk driver causes wrong way crash in Pennsylvania

There are many good drivers on the roadways in Pennsylvania. While this means that a driver is following the rules of the road and driving safely, this does not always mean that they will evade a collision. Negligence and recklessness on the roads tend to impact safe drivers each day, and the results can be catastrophic.

According to recent reports, a wrong-way driver caused a serious car crash in Coolbaugh Township. Police believe that the crash occurred when a suspected drunk driver was traveling in the wrong direction on Interstate 380. This resulted in a multi-vehicle crash at approximately 12:45 a.m.

Police claim that the driver of the wrong way vehicle was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. The 32-year-old man was seriously injured in the crash and was transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

An 18-year-old driver attempted to avoid the wrong way driver, resulting in her swerving into the right lane and striking a tractor-trailer. She suffered minor injuries as a result and she too was taken to the hospital. The truck driver did not suffer any injuries in the crash but the vehicle sustained damages.

Investigation of this drunk driving accident is still ongoing. Police are still waiting on pending blood results, and no charges have been filed at this time. People in situations like this one may want to research whether they have any legal options. A personal injury suit could help place liability on a negligent driver, and help car accident victims pursue compensation for their losses and damages.
