4 Things to buy to make driving safer

Newer vehicles sport automatic drive assist features that are making it safer for people to be on the road. If you have an older vehicle, you can still buy technology that will help make driving safer.

Here a few easy ones to look into.

You may be able to upgrade some newer vehicles with a new deck or rear view mirror that utilizes a back-up camera. This can help prevent an accident while in reverse.

Additionally, you may also consider purchasing a dashboard camera to record driving activity. A forward-facing dash cam can support an injury claim after an accident, while a rear-facing dash cam could also help make work safe for drivers who do ride-sharing services.

Phone mounts

Mounting a device designed to hold your cellphone can help you use navigation directions responsible and prevent you from using your phone to text, call or go on social media while driving.

These mounts can attach to a driver’s windshield, dashboard, air vents, or CD player.

New tires

If the tread on your tires no longer passes the penny test, you are at risk for an accident. Changing out your tires can improve the grip your vehicle has to the road.

If you still have your winter tires on your vehicle, it’s time to change them out. Winter tires need soft surfaces for the tread to sink into and grip. On dry spring roads, you should opt for all season tires or mud and snow.

Sun shield

As the weather warms, sunshine can become a dangerous hazard for drivers. To proof your car from sun glare, try investing in a see-through sun visor, window tinting or sunglasses.

All of these add-ons can improve safety and minimize your risk to get in a motor vehicle accident.
