Pedestrians are inherently vulnerable to injuries and wrongful death when they are hit by a car. These accidents can happen when the person is crossing in the crosswalk and obeying all the basic rules for pedestrian safety. Because these people are in such danger for serious injuries and death, it is important for the injured person and his or her family to understand whether it happened because of recklessness, due to an unfortunate circumstance, because of a driver’s negligent actions or for any other reason. They must also know their rights to seek compensation through a legal filing.

A woman died when she was hit by a car as she was on her way to church. The accident occurred at around 9:30 a.m. The woman, 86, was in the crosswalk when the crash happened. She was taken to the hospital where she died. The law enforcement investigation states that the driver did not show signs of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs. They are trying to discern why he did not stop in the crosswalk when the woman was crossing. The investigation is continuing.

When there is a pedestrian-car accident, the pedestrian will invariably have injuries. This is due to the fundamental reality of being unprotected when hit. For some, they are lucky and do not suffer long-term damage. Others have broken bones, cuts and abrasions, but are able to recover. For the worse off, there can be a spinal cord injury or a brain injury. Any of these motor vehicle accident injuries will lead to medical bills that run the gamut for costs. There can be surgical procedures, lost time at work and the need for rehabilitative care. With a fatality, there are a litany of other factors to consider. The person could have been a vital member of a family, a breadwinner, or a young person. The costs must be considered in a financial and personal sense when considering whether to file a legal case and how to go about it.

A woman who was heading to church was hit by a car and killed. The driver did not stop before the crash despite the woman being in the crosswalk. Although the investigation is ongoing, the woman’s family must protect their interests by having an investigation with their point-of-view in mind. A legal professional experienced in accidents between cars and pedestrians can help.
