Pickup hits elderly woman in parking lot, causing wrongful death

One of the most dangerous types of motor vehicle accidents in Cranberry Township and throughout Pennsylvania is one that involves a pedestrian. An elderly woman was hit by a pickup truck and killed in the parking lot of a Walmart. The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

According to the law enforcement investigation, a 49-year-old woman was behind the wheel of a white pickup when it hit the woman. The victim was in the crosswalk near the entrance to the store when the driver hit and ran her over. When witnesses yelled for her to stop, the driver ran her over again.

Law enforcement questioned the driver and reportedly smelled alcohol when they spoke to the driver. The driver was then arrested on multiple charges, including DUI and homicide by vehicle.
